Deep water is the best defense but when I took Calypso down the west coast of
Vancouver Island I did wonder how much warning I would get from the VHF. (no
cell coverage north of Tofino)

The Calypso crew and I discussed the plan if the water began running out of the
anchorage. We did not come up with anything better than head to sea ASAP.

On the inside of Vanc. Isl. and the rest of the Salish Sea a sizable earthquake
may be the bigger risk. If a 8+ strikes we could experience basin washing that
could make a mess of most marinas.

Subject: Stus-List Tsunamis

Does anyone have sources for advice to be given to boaters by Emergency
Managers if there is time to warn that a tsunami is imminent? I think I
remember a thread from a number of years ago. Thanks, Patrick Wesley, Victoria
