I have 2 sailboats insured thru State Farm. I lost the mast on Cal 20 and
while I was insured for only $3500 they paid $3200 less $250 deductible. My
agent then suggested that maybe I'd like to raise my coverage.

Speaking of insurance, State Farm will not insure my boat in Mexico. I am
planning to sail to the Sea of Cortez next winter and would like any advise
you may have about getting good insurance coverage.

David,
I have a 1991 34+ which is insured with BoatUS. I've been very happy with
them and they give a discount on premiums each year if there have been no
claims. Of course, the premiums will probably increase this year due to the
damage by Sandy.

I am looking for insurance on the C&C34+ I am hopefully purchasing and ran
into an unusual response from Allstate. They told me they could not quote a
policy because the underwriter will not insure a boat of more than 34 feet
for coastal use. Has anyone heard of anything like this before? It makes
absolutely no sense to me and I am not sure if it is worth pursuing in case
something was lost in translation. Thanks- Dave
