Several years ago I bought a bimini from Westland, Model 4681, for my C&C
40. I believe you can still buy it through go2marine.com for about $400.
It was made of Sunbrella and the dimensions are 46"H x 81"W x 72"L. It was
a little tricky picking the right dimensions and mounting location because
it has to be short enough not to interfere with the boom when fully sheeted,
and mounted far enough forward not to interfere with the winches. I had to
compromise with a fairly short bimini that covers the cockpit, but not the
helm. I have good visibility over the bimini from the helm and the
passengers are only slightly uncomfortable trying to stand if they are tall.
You could probably get away with the 54"H model, but I would have had to
look forward under the bimini, and I felt like that limited my helm
visibility too much. The attachment point for the 3-bow structure is
between the coaming and the genoa tracks just aft of the bulkhead, which
allows for free access to both the primary and secondary winches. The
bimini extends from just ahead of the helm to about a foot aft of the main
traveler.

IIRC there is a similar but reverse direction for sailing from the old
Spanish base in San Blas to Nootka Sound. Something about sailing NW until
you smell Mai Tai mix then tack and sail NE to Vancouver Island.

Maybe the instruction was to go NW until the butter turns solid.

There are meridian marks in several locations around Paris, including inside
the Louvre; and yes, the building (Paris Observatory) still stands:

I need to put a bimini top on my boat for this summer. Has anyone info on
where to go for a canvas company in New England that's made one for a C&C

Yacht Canvas on Long Island made the original one for my 35/3. They
probably have the template for yours. After 30 years, mine is looking a
little shabby. They quoted me around 875 to make a new one using the old
one as a template using the old frame. It might be more from scratch.

A lot less than the cost of a passport.

Alan

Here in Vermont the EDL adds an additional $25 to the price of a regular
drivers license.

Actually I am in the renewal process for my card, they call it Drivers
permit + , cost 45.00 for 2 years. It can be used to cross land and sea
borders.?
At every renewal you have to take a rendez-vous and be interviewed , they
ask questions about me that I've almost forgotten ( like question about an
appartment I rent for 3 months 20 years ago ).

Once they issue the card they also supply an aluminized card holder and tell
you to always keep it in the holder because the customs remotely scans it
even before you present it to the Customs officier.

I also had to ingest radioactive liquid 2 years ago ( Hospital was
suspecting bones infection ) and everytime I crossed the border it was the
same routine,? loud alarm started, told me to leave the car and let the keys
on the dash, then they had to scan me with a geiger instrument.. Lasted for
4 weeks. I was preparing the boat for summer vacations so I crossed the
border often :-)
Even 1 time I was taking the boat to the U.S and before the boat was at the
docks the "radiation alarm" on their belt was beeping loudly. I remember one
of the Officiers saying "Hey we could cook pop-corn with that guy"

They monitor everything, everytime..

IIRC the DL+ may be OK between the US and Canada by auto. Check
specifically if it will be accepted both ways by boat and/or airplane.
There is likely a regional variation on acceptance.

In 2011 Kenmore Air required passports to fly from Seattle to BC. I
insisted on passports to get Calypso and its crew in and out of Canada as I
received mixed answers on whether the DL+ would be accepted when crossing
the borders by boat.

I have read the DL+ is not accepted crossing the US border from Mexico.

>At every renewal you have to take a rendez-vous and be interviewed , they
ask questions about me that I've almost forgotten ( like question about an
appartment I rent for 3 months 20 years ago ).

>Once they issue the card they also supply an aluminized card holder and
tell you to always keep it in the holder because the customs remotely scans
it even before you present it to the Customs officier.

>>From what I know the EDL (Enhanced Driver?s Licence) is a bit
controversial. The DL has more information about you than the passport and
the border agency share this information across the border. There are rules
in place that limit what governments can share as part of the passport;
there are no such rules about DLs.

to know anything more about me than it is completely necessary.
