He's in. They covered the finish from 2 miles out, the boat sailing along in very light winds, making 4 knots, with huge ground swell running. There were about 30 spectator and official boats He finished about 18 minutes after 9am, this morning. Helicopters, boat cams, amazing. He was busy the whole time tydying up, steering, checking the boats around him and his course. After crossing, he rolled up his big genneker by himself using the coffee grinder and then his team support boat arrived w crew and the officials checked all of the required equipment; engine seal, keel cant limit, storm sails aboard, etc. He passed, so another inflatable arrived and someone climbed onto the boat in full foulies and a PFD, almost fell in. Francois pulled that person over the lifelines and hugged them for minutes, frustrating the commentators. Turned out to be Francois' wife. The crew lowered the mainsail to the first reef and they sailed to the harbor canal before starting the engine and lowering the mainsail completely. There were fireworks as half the country of France lined the jetties and bulkheads to greet him. He posed on the bow with flares and sprayed the crowd w champagne, and then answered questions from reporters. Coverage was great, and continuous right to the dock, and now he gets ready for a press conference.
