We are the home of Comet racing around here. I was RC for a few of their races in the fall. I think we have a Comet for sale at the club. Tell your wife we are pretty low key. Besides for husbands and wives we have kids and grandkids crewing.

Now all I need to do is convince my wife to crew. The last time I bought a boat, I towed home a 19' Mako without telling her. "It followed me home, can I keep it?" only works once. Joe, maybe I'll see you more often at Corsica River! They definitely won the party! At one time I heard the fleet would give someone a loaner boat for free to try out the racing. Maybe no longer, but I could get into the fleet for the cost of a sail or two for my boat I'm sure. Frostbite can't be much fun lately - the weekends have been warm, damp, foggy, and near flat calm :( Last Saturday we aborted sailing due to the Chester River being a flat mirror and ran around at 17 knots in the dinghy instead. NOOD's in the Spring and The Good Old Boat in the Fall. I think there's a OD start with EYC's Friday Beer Can. For my money the best racing is AYC's Frostbite Series. Two races on Sunday, Nov-Dec, Feb-Mar. Not sure about the "free" part but very cheap to buy and race. Most likely it will be slipped with all the other Cals on one dock inside the bridge on Spa creek with crazy low slip fees by Annapolis rates. It's a very competitive fleet with starting numbers in the low to mid teens. One of my former crew's boat is up for sale there. If you're interested call my buddy Charlie Husar who keeps the whole fleet going. 410-266-6216. He can put you on a boat if you're interested in seeing what it is all about.
