I was filling my bow water tank the other day and was thinking it was taking a long time. Hmmm? No water coming out the vent. I decided to go below and take a look and the cabin was ankle deep! After pumping the bilge, I could find nothing wrong and the tank was full to the brim. WTF? Where was it leaking? I put the hose in again and discovered the FILL HOSE was coming apart under pressure and dumping all the water in the bilge and then coming back together afterwards. Got that all straight and then the pump died :(
Now I have a new pump I am getting inspired to move it someplace forward. Right now it is under the starboard cockpit locker which routes the water hoses part the engine. This water gets quite hit from being near the engine and I wonder if it contributes to bad taste to be heated like that. I was thinking of moving the pump someplace forward. Question: Is anyone running filters? I have a carbon filter in the line to the head sink and it seems to work well for a couple months and then start making the water worse instead of better. Is there a better way to do this?
