I thought I would mention one more point which may be obvious to some but was a real forehead slapper when it was mentioned to me. During reinstallation, use Nickel anti-seize or a marine-grade anti-seize. The standard anti-seize (or Never-Seize) contains zinc which in this application is not what you want in a saltwater environment.
