I saw a clever system to cover a C&C 37......his mast is out although it wouldn't make much of a difference if it was in....he took 2" X 4" 's cut to appropriate lengths and bolted them together at the top and set the bottoms on the deck on pieces of carpet just touching the toerail. Because they are bolted, they swing and easily conform to the required angle. I am guessing but there about 7 to 8 rows approx. 4' apart and are tied together at the top with one continuous piece of rope ......the further forward is tied to the bow pulpit and aft one to the stern pushpit. He put used plastic (shrinkwrap) gathered around the boatyard from previous years on the top of the 2" x 4"'s to protect against chafe of his tarp. The tarp comes down to just above the toerail and rather than tying it with grommets, he used golf balls at the foot of the tarp tied with a slip knot which then ties to the toerail.

I treat myself and have our boat shrinkwrapped (white) which allows me to go aboard all winter and tinker. I do not have the space to store a boat cover with frame nor do I have a vehicle which can haul around some of these elaborate covers with frames.

Okay,
So what do all of you do about winter covers?
I've used tarps previously but they are a bit of a pain and not that cheap. I made a frame out of 1"x4" PVC trim. I bowed them from toe rail to tow rail and it worked okay. I'd love to have something a bit better but I just got 2 prices for a custom cove. The place that made my sails wants $4200 with the frame and the Faiclough wants $2900 with the frame. WAY more than I wanted to spend. I spoke to a guy at the Boston Boat show back in January or February and he said it would be about $1800. That price I can tolerate but I forgot the name of that company...
