I got some sponge things from the Boston boat show this year. They are white and blue. I can't remember the name but I'll check this weekend when I go down to the boat.
I had my doubts but the removed all kinds of stuff, rust stains included, even on the no-skid surface. They do have a very fine abrasive quality and, basically wear down to nothing. All I did was wet them, keep the surface I was cleaning wet and lightly rub. I was pretty amazed. I'll be buying more this year! Google it for a million sources. I had always assumed it was just Oxalic Acid thickened up a bit, but there must be something else in there as it works a lot better than an Oxalic Acid paste. I just tried it on a lark, as I have a tendency to develop the worlds worst rust streaks down my transom from the mounting hardware on my Monitor and the teak shelf that sits underneath it. This stuff removed the streaks in less than 5 minutes after applying it with a paint brush and no scrubbing other than using the brush to keep the stain wet.
