Russ:
For approx. 14 years, we have used Interlux Micron CSC on our
boats.....the paint here is approx. $320 per gallon (tax
included).....it is a good paint but maybe there are other paints just
as good but not as expensive.
Spring 2012, an ad on the local internet here was advertising 3.5
gallons of Interlux Micron 66 for $350 CDN....contacted the seller and
was able to buy 2.5 gallons for $250.
I don't think Micron 66 is sold in Canada....I think it has something to
do with getting some of the 'ingredients' approved by the government.
I asked the Binnacle here if they would carry it and the response was
that it involved to much 'red tape' to have it approved for retail.
Micron 66 contains bioside(s) that prevents marine growth including
'slime' . I presume no retailer in Canada has gone through the 'red
tape process' to get the paint approved for sale.
Interlux advertises Micron 66 as its premiere paint .....after what I
saw on our boat this season, I can understand why it can claim that.
In the Spring 2012, I put a very thin coat of Micron 66 over the Micron
CSC .....actually thinned the 66 about 10% because of the temp the day
of application. I knew before the boat was hauled the hull was
clean....no growth of any kind and no slime....on haulout, didn't need
the usual pressure wash as with the CSC.
Still have a little less than 2 gallons remaining but am looking for a
way to acquire more.....might have to drive to Maine on a shopping trip
to L.L. Bean for a pair of shoes and call ahead to find a marine
retailer of Micron 66....take my chance at the border.
No question in my mind Micron CSC or Micron 66.....Micron 66 is a more
effective antifouling paint.

Hi Bob,
Will you refresh us on the bottom paint details?
Manufacturer, mix name, product number, etc. And maybe speculate why
it is not available in Canada...
I don't need to know about the toilet :)

visitors from the states last week and they owe me one since I once
took a non low-flow toilet across the border for them (long story).
Hi
Graham, too funny, if it makes you fell any better, I have more two
gallons and I intend to use every last drop. Now I am looking for a
new supply!
