Hi guys I thought I would chime in on the 34+ threads as we searched several years before making final decision to purchase a 34+. We've owned several sailboats including a C&C, Catalina, CAL, Nonsuch and finally what we consider the best we have ever owned the 34/36+. Sailing performance is substantially better on this boat than all others as is build quality. Only other one close was Nonsuch with lots of heavy wood joinery but not a great sailing boat on all points especially up wind. The 34/36+ was built in a race "R" version and also a racer/cruiser version which still favours the race/speed element. We like this boat because we have great room/space below with all creature comforts, can sail fast and importantly sail short handed with two of us or single hand when no one else around. The boat looks and feels quite modern but prices are half of what a newer more recent C&C (used) would sell for. I guess every boat is a series of compromises and for us this vintage was the ideal sweet spot of performance, design, comfort, value, etc.
