There used to be a place up by the air museum, can't remember the name, but I
think it is now gone. You could try Kijiji or any of the used goods stores like
Goodwill or Value Village. They usually have some old electronics, but it will
be a treasure hunt to find what you need. Computerrack -
http://computerrack.ca - sells used systems but I don't know if they handle
used parts - might be worth a call.

I am not a hardware expert but I think fans are fairly standardized, so as long
as you know the size you should be Ok, but it would not hurt to physically the
compare the new to old to verify fit.

Good luck.

Subject: [clug-talk] where to buy second hand computer parts in Calgary?

Where is the best place to buy computer parts in Calgary?
My computer CPU fan has become so loud that it needs replacing
and since my computer is nearly 8 years old I prefer to not buy
a new one. I live in the North West so a location in my area is better
though not a necessity.

I assume it will be necessary to take my fan out and take it
with me to ensure my replacement fits. True?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Sorry, but I will miss the upcoming meeting as I am working the advance poll
of the civic election.
