I apologize if you get this twice. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Liam Gordon <l.oneill.gor...@gmail.com> Date: Fri, Apr 7, 2017 at 1:32 PM Subject: Regarding Beginner Classes To: CLUG General <clug-talk@clug.ca>
I think it would be interesting and also productive to introduce individuals from the beginner stages of Linux usage. An example of some topics that might be interest would be Linux Boot Process,File System Hierarchy, Installing Linux through USB/CD, Basic Command Line, package management using yum or apt-get etc, Basic Trouble Shooting, etc., basic security, dual booting from windows to linux, basic shell scripting There is probably way more that beginners would like to know, but I think this is a good example of what most beginners would like to know. Depending if we want to reach outside the mailing list, we could put up posters, around the University of Calgary/Mount Royal/post on reddit etc./protospace It could also be a fund raising activity as I have access to spaces that cost about $25/50 to rent, and if we could charge $15-20 per class, for about 4 hour class, and get 10-15 people to attend that could assist in paying some of CLUG'S costs. What does everyone think? As a newbie I'm basic towards learning the basics/intermediate and wanting others to make linux as user friendly and friendly as possible.
