Your original post suggest otherwise:

Coming from an RPM (RedHat) environment I'd look at the triggers/scripts in the 
package, searching for the Ubuntu equivalent of:
   
   rpm -q --scripts --triggers <package>

comes up with:

   http://askubuntu.com/questions/85839/deb-equivalents-to-rpm-commands 

   cat /var/lib/dpkg/info/packagename.{pre,post}{inst,rm}

or maybe this:

   http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/karmic/en/man1/dpkg-trigger.1.html

but I don't have a Mint box handy, so I'd have to fire up a VM if none of the 
solutions posted thus far help you.
