I'm using Mint 17 with Cinnamon on a Lenovo ThinkPad with touchpad, trying to productively use LibreOffice to work with tab stops in my resume.
I need to stop focus from changing to other windows and to whatever the mouse happens to be over while I am attempting to type, read or perform other actions. It's become quite irritating. Yes, I have gone into the Universal Access settings and disabled Hover-click for the touchpad. I have also set the touchpad to be disabled while typing. In the Window settings, I have just now enabled the 'Prevent focus stealing' setting. Turning off the hover click setting does not seem to help at all.
