The day after I find out that Plume Creator cannot read the project files that I copied over to the backup drive before a fresh install of Linux Mint 17 (losing much of the draft of a novel), the drive itself seems to be toast. There were some file system errors that were corrected when I had it connected to a Windows 7 OS on my older laptop, but I was using it after that and got much data restored, though not all of it. Now, it seems stuck while trying to read, I get frequent beeping and it does not appear in the list of devices in Gparted. The disk manager built in to Mint used to show the partition and volume info, but now only shows some details of the hardware, with mount options.
I have another external drive somewhere, but fear that it may not have all the content that I had put on the 'new' storage device. Other than waiting for a response from Verbatim and digging around for that other hard disk, any suggestions for getting the device to be recognized? _______________________________________________ clug-talk mailing list clug-talk@clug.ca http://clug.ca/mailman/listinfo/clug-talk_clug.ca Mailing List Guidelines (http://clug.ca/ml_guidelines.php) **Please remove these lines when replying
