Ultimately, there are two options (if the opportunity still existed) (1) change to clug.org, re-do the bylaws to better suit and wait until you could become a 'legal entity' or a non-profit. Can't touch the current budget or anything else associated with clug.ca though.
(2) stay with clug.ca (if possible) and make changes to solve the troubles in the bylaws that led to this situation. Thats where the real problem occurred I believe. Thing is, to make those changes is not a small change, nor is it easy. Someone needs to get hold of a copy of the societies act and go through it in depth to determine where you folks currently stand. The advantage to number one is that you can wait to become registered and have the freedom to make any changes you wanted until you had things ironed out, then apply for registration under the societies act. Trouble is, I coudln't get answers so I do not know if there is physical property involved (ie: a server tucked away somewhere) - I don't know where the mail lists originate or who handles them (company) .. there was too much that I could not get answers to to know all of the problems that would be involved with either of the two options... I just know some of the big issues that would be obvious. The other thing that would need to be addressed is apathy. Of all those that contacted me directly, ALL thought the club was a good idea .... MOST gave me reasons why they couldn't make it to meetings. That is the biggest concern not addressed by the disposition of the club directly. What is keeping people from coming as mentioned in Gustins post ALSO...just heard from Kin Wong ....he is willing to meet to get memberships done ...need a day/time Ron _______________________________________________ clug-talk mailing list clug-talk@clug.ca http://clug.ca/mailman/listinfo/clug-talk_clug.ca Mailing List Guidelines (http://clug.ca/ml_guidelines.php) **Please remove these lines when replying
