I guess it would really depend on what you were trying to do.  If it were
me, I would put Kali into a VM or directly on x86 hardware to get familiar
with it. I would only use the Pi for the tasks that it is suited for (low
throughput data/metadata collection and forwarding, ingress/egress point
for remote access are two such things that come to mind).

While the Pi is a very cool piece of gear, please be aware that it is an
extremely limited hardware platform.  If I remember I will bring my quad
core Exynos (ARM A9) dev board (which is painfully slow for someone used to
modern x86).
