Hi Katherine,
Most of the folks have already given you some of the tips I would have,
so I won't repeat them.
Typically...Linux netbooks are harder to find nowadays if not
impossible. At least in brick & mortar stores. Online may be your only
option or you may need to settle for one with Windows on it. That being
said, you could always load Linux on it either as a dual-boot or over
the Windows install.
This may be a reach but Dell may still carry netbooks pre-loaded with
Linux. It will be Ubuntu, but you could install almost anything on
there if you like.
If you needs are very light, you may be able to find a used one that
someone would be willing to sell.
Good luck in your search & let us know how you fair.

I want to buy a netbook (preferable one from the ASUS eee pc line) with Linux
on it. I've had one before, so I know that it does exist. However, whenever I
go into a shop and ask for it, the salespeople just stare at me and point to
windows-version. Does anyone know where I can get one with Linux on it? I live
near Calgary, so that would be the best place for me to go looking for one.
Internetshops would also be okay.
Any tips and ideas are greatly appreciated.
