Sorry for the delayed response - hate typing on small keyboards.
The power supply for a manufacturer is frequently interchangeable. Have a look in your manual, the specs for the power adapter should be there. If not, you can take your notebook to a store and see if you can plug it into one of their adapters to test for fit. The important things are the plug-in needs to fit, the polarity of the plug (+ve on the inside or the outside, it is likely DC rather than AC, the charging voltage and finally the output current which will be proportional to the power.
The voltage of the adapter will not the same as for the battery - it is frequently significantly higher. Has to be otherwise your battery will not charge. There is usually a regulator inside the laptop and circuit that gives it some intelligence regarding charging. For example my Dell laptop has a charger at 19+ VDC but the battery is just under 11VDC.
There are also a lot of people around with the same computer. You might also want to try on kijiji for a local used netbook. Every consider getting a second machine that uses the same charger - you don't have to necessary end up buying it, but consider it and you can both get to try it and not the power requirements.
You might also have a look at organizations like ERA, they do electronic recycling and they might come across an adapter that you require.

Hi Folks, I've lost the battery charger for my netbook (emachines eM350). Amazon has one on sale for only $18.90 + tax which they claim is suitable for an " Emachines Em350". " Output Voltage: 19V / Output Current: 2.1A / Power: 40W" I took out the battery from the netbook and it has written on it "10.8V...2200mAh 24Wh". Does anyone know whether the Amazon product would work with my netbook?
