Yesterday's meeting was just a hoot - thanks to Mel from his sustained
gentle encouragement for speakers to step up and a special thanks to all
those that did step forward. I don't every remember having more
presentation material than there was time allotted - so much so that
Gustin only skim through his material and Dafydd did not get a chance to
even speak.
I sensed a renewed energy and was thinking how to capitalize on this. I
have always wanted to do more exploring but technology frequently
presents an obstacle, hence collaboration would be the way to go. The
email forums are good but sometimes you need hands on. Time is precious
and I am already spreading myself too thin, but if I get energized from
it, it will be worth it all.
My proposal - looking for liked mined individuals to work on interesting
short open source projects. We meet on a Sunday morning for a couple of
hours before family commitments kick in. Could be Monday evening but
timing will be up to who could make it. Small group - leave politics at
the door. Short meeting - no more than an hour or two. Location
downtown - I think I have a place that we could meet. Timing, week
following Clug meeting.
Motive - primary to learn and share ideas, secondary to be able to bring
them back to share with Clug. Don't worry, presenting is not part of
the requirement - you can if you want to - you can lead, support in a
joint presentation and just sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labour.
Just an idea.
