It might be that I have somewhat unreasonable expectations of performance, but even a dual core Atom was barely adequate to run a single desktop OS for me. The limited RAM in particular is a pain.
I prefer the 500Mhz Geode as the performance hit is actually justifiable by power savings. > Let me check into a mini itx system. Can you suggest a model# for a P55 > based Core i5/i7 quad core CPU in a mini-itx form factor? How about a vendor? Memory Express has the following motherboard: http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/PID-MX29411(ME).aspx Before memx started carrying this stuff I usually went to http://www.ncix.com (ncix still has a better selection). This is where I got my Core2Duo on a mini-itx motherboard that is my current ESXi server at home here. http://www.logicsupply.com has the best selection but tends to be a little pricey. Unless you absolutely need the small form factor, I would recommend the slightly larger u-ATX form factor. There are better thermal tolerances on the slightly larger form factors. > > I have been able to buy eeePC900's for well under $200 bux. Of course YMMV. _______________________________________________ clug-talk mailing list [email protected] http://clug.ca/mailman/listinfo/clug-talk_clug.ca Mailing List Guidelines (http://clug.ca/ml_guidelines.php) **Please remove these lines when replying
