There is nothing real fast when dealing with a giant. I have had great success with getting Gmail help on a paid account and no success with Gmail free account. If your friend needs an account right away I suggest as someone above as done - just register a new one. Further to this - if the fellow has a domain GApps account - ie name @domain.XXX.
