My thoughts are that if you were to get together and put together a
plan, then go over that plan with the exec (email, in person,
whichever), THEN you would get more constructive feedback from the
exec. And if the answer were "no", for whatever reason, you already
have a plan to move ahead with outside of CLUG. I would just be
careful about committing resources that may or may not be available.
