Re: Can someone help me!!

I am no where as intelligent as some of the others on this CLUG but I just
had a problem something like this on my eeepc 700 series. I am running easy
peasy and it just wouldn't boot. It would hang half way through. A good
friend said that it might be just a bad secter on my solid state hdd. He
told me to run from super user on a terminal the following; either
su fsck /dev/sda1 or su fsck -a /dev/sda1 in my case I didn't need the
su part but I did need to boot from a external cd drive with knoppix and go
into the terminal with the # sign I think its called a hash mark. I did the
first part of fsck /dev/sda1 and that took a while and than I did the second
part of fsck -a /dev/sda1 that was quick than booted and all was fine. The
sda1 part was the assigned drive address that the computer gave my drive
yours might be different. Please ask some of the other smart guys on this
site if this might work as I am in no way a tech of any sort. Just trying to
help.

Dan

Hi Sean,
Have you double checked the BIOS to ensure that it boots from the USB
drive? Also, can you double check that your USB drive works on other
machines if you have any available to you?

Yes, I had the usb drive working, the issue seems to be mounting the
drives. I don't know how to mount and unmount the drives, it just seems to
do it on its own. But, when the drive is mounted then it does not want to
recognize it in the BIOS.

That is why I am starting to freak out and I am wondering if there is anyone
I can just pay to fix this!!!

Progsig is meeting tomorrow night at DeVry. If you don't have it
resolved by then, bring it in and we'll see what we can do for you.
(bring your USB drive, flash cards, etc. too...)
