I've decided to at least put the word out with my contacts to see if there
is a known space....  for free or for rent with someone who has the
resources and mindset to see this as worthwhile... 

I know that in the Calgary market that 'free' sounds like 'I'm nuts', but
you never know.  Nothing ventured nothing gained.

Yep, definitely thought about starting one before, somewhat similar to
the l0pht, but the logistics were beyond me.  I don't have the space
for something like this, but toyed with the idea of getting a few
people together to rent some place cheap but big enough to house some
tools, benches, and enough floor space to play around with.

I didn't know nearly enough people who would be interested at the
time, and there were a lot of things to think about (insurance,
access, settling conflicts, dues, rent, location, maintaining enough
members... to name a few.)

Of course, this is not the only option, just the only one I could
think of at the time.
