Well, I think I am finally going to take the plunge and set up my own mail server. I have decided to use Ubuntu Server 7.04 as a base with Postfix as the MTA. I have found what looks to be an excellent howto here:
http://flurdy.com/docs/postfix/ I'll let you know how it goes. Pretty much everything the fellow at flurdy talks about it what I am after with the exception of Shorewall. This server will already be behind my firewall in a DMZ and I think having an additional firewall on the box is a bit overkill. If anyone has any additional suggestions on managing a mail server, please feel free to contact me. I will try to make some notes as I go as I think there may be a workshop that comes out of this. I know I am not the only one interested in this. Jarrod
