I'd be leery about telling them it's an unlocked phone. As I stated in another post, it's been my experience that they will only activate their own handsets so outright telling them this isn't their handset has undesirable results. It's also bee my experience that they don't really ask... Having said that, it's been a few years since I went down this route and perhaps their attitude has changed.
