The card almost-always autodetects and usually works. So, you may need a card reader for your computer ($50).
The camera itself may not work (you will have to take the card out, plug it into the card reader).
I wouldn't open it unless you're sure.

Hello All,

I just bought a Kodak easy share CD33 camera which ostensibly requires
minimum Windows 98. But Kanotix Debian Linux should work with the
camera, should it not?

I am a little afraid to open the camera as I am not sure it will work.
But I do remember that a memory stick from a friend's camera auto
detected with Kanotix. So perhaps my new camera should be auto detected
by kanotix too.

Should I go ahead and take a few pictures and try downloading them to my
system hoping the camera auto detects?

Regards,

Michael
