I have set up DNS once, and with some guidance, managed to get it done. This was quite a while ago though, and I never used it at the time, so I have forgotten. I use http://dnsexit.com/ now, but I only have two domain names registered, so I don't know how many free ones they offer (they offer free DNS for personal or business domains; apparently even if you don't register it through them.) Although I'm sure you've thought of this, if you set up your own DNS, remember that you are responsible if it goes down! If the daemon fails or the hardware fails, you're going to have to fix it, so take care of any redundancies you feel appropriate. > Second question: would *you* bother doing it, or recommend just sticking with > Zone Edit? For some reason, Zone Edit wasn't working for me the first time I tried for both domains... I used dnsexit and it Just Worked (TM) so I didn't go back and troubleshoot. If Zone Edit is working for you, I would recommend this: Set up your own DNS locally and try it out. If it works, and you would feel comfortable making changes if something breaks, go live with it :-) If you can't get it figured out in a test situation, well, $10 a pop doesn't sound so bad now, does it? Now, a question from me would be this: Who are you registering your domains through? for an extra $5 could you register them through someone who will do DNS for you for free?
