Kinda hard to point you at any particular location... Maybe take a look at the output from "dmesg" and see if there are any problems there? Maybe run "top" for a bit and see what resources are running - maybe you have things happening you don't know about? I'm assuming you've checked the log files to look for errors? (under /var/log ) It's a shot in the dark, but hope it helps some.
