Thanks Hendrik - that might have been the problem. One of the other things I was doing yesterday was updating my server and workstation (Gentoo emerge world). I did notice that Bind was updated - so that might have been what resolved the problem. But it's working for now. I'll monitor this for the next few days though. Thanks for everyone's help!
