Its nice that the other distros (Gentoo included) have finally caught up to Debian circa 1999 in this regard ;) With ubuntu/kubuntu, I like it (mostly) on my laptop. Issues like the broken kmail (no gpg support under breezy) make me cautious about deploying it as a server. I also do not like some of the default security settings, which are fine for a personal workstation, but not on a server. >>Jon >> >>On 10/13/05, Nick Wiltshire <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: >> >>>On Thursday 13 October 2005 2:14 pm, Travis Rousseau wrote: >>> >>>>>But Gentoo has a permanent home on my servers because of the overall >>>>>control and no need to install uneccessary packages... >>>>> >>>>>My thoughts. >>>>> >>>>>Shawn >>>> >>>>Just in case you didn't know, when installing, at the first boot up >>>>screen if you type "custom-server" it installs only the essentials >>> >>>How does Ubuntu do package management? >>> >>> >>>>Travis R. >>>> >>>>_______________________________________________ >>>>clug-talk mailing list >>>>[email protected] >>>>http://clug.ca/mailman/listinfo/clug-talk_clug.ca >>>>Mailing List Guidelines (http://clug.ca/ml_guidelines.php) >>>>**Please remove these lines when replying >>> >>>_______________________________________________ >>>clug-talk mailing list >>>[email protected] >>>http://clug.ca/mailman/listinfo/clug-talk_clug.ca >>>Mailing List Guidelines (http://clug.ca/ml_guidelines.php) >>>**Please remove these lines when replying >> >>_______________________________________________ >>clug-talk mailing list >>[email protected] >>http://clug.ca/mailman/listinfo/clug-talk_clug.ca >>Mailing List Guidelines (http://clug.ca/ml_guidelines.php) >>**Please remove these lines when replying > > > _______________________________________________ > clug-talk mailing list > [email protected] > http://clug.ca/mailman/listinfo/clug-talk_clug.ca > Mailing List Guidelines (http://clug.ca/ml_guidelines.php) > **Please remove these lines when replying -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.1 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Thunderbird - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFDTtYIwRXgH3rKGfMRAnD+AJ0d9Jl+mr0VKgypjGG1KvMCKQEpggCfRFW4 E3BliLbF7QZ1SOHg3ZFJ4ig= =5Jdb -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- _______________________________________________ clug-talk mailing list [email protected] http://clug.ca/mailman/listinfo/clug-talk_clug.ca Mailing List Guidelines (http://clug.ca/ml_guidelines.php) **Please remove these lines when replying
