I've found that KDE run better with less memory than Gnome, but I no
proof to back that statement up.  Also I have not tested this with the
newer versions of KDE and Gnome.  If you have the room you may try
installing both and seeing which one works the best with their setup.
It may be just a matter of preference as they may not even notice a
difference.
