sometimes removing and reloading the driver module works.

ifconfig eth0 down
rmmod e100
modprobe e100

Though I have not had this problem recently.

Hi All

This morning I set my laptop to load up a bunch of pages and get email but
somewhere in the middle the NIC aparently failed. I am not getting a
connection light, tested the cable on ajacent box, also tried another
connection, the fault is definitely with my box.

Hmmm... It seems to have fixed itself. I am putting it down to a combination
of a doubtful RJ45 and me being clumsy.

Thanks for the replies guys and the offer Jesse.

Graham
