True...no such thing as free money. I don't see how we would be indebted to anyone other than the membership of clug. True an exchange does take place...the gambler chooses to play their money and they choose when they stop. They exchange cash for a possible higher gain. Consequences to their actions. Why do we need to give anything back to gamblers? People through the term addiction around way to loosely. Just so you know, my father was an alcoholic, I was pretty close myself, and my god mother gambled almost everyday. My mom in law and father are addicted to smoking and will likely never stop. Most of my fiances family are alcoholics as well. In short...I am grown up around "addictions" of some sort or another and I have my own "addictions" that I deal with. Then one thing in common that they all have is that a choice is made by that individual and not society.. no one forces people to gamble, therefore, society shouldn't be held responsible. They willfully chose that lifestyles and they have to choose when they leae it or if they do. Either way... consequences. The only exchange is between the gamblers resources and their lifestyle. If a group can benfit from that, then they benefit from it. I am sure that the person sitting at the poker tables wouldn't ever take the $1000 they blow that night and give it to CLUG...but would rather give it to the casino.. who gives it to th gov't who then gives it to people who need it. > 4. Not disputing your ideas...just trying to present both sides. I for one don't feel sorry for people that engage in destructuve lifestyles. I do feel somewhat sorry for their families though... but coming in part from that environment...we all have crosses to bear and no one is perfect. If a gambler takes from his kids plate that is sad.. but how is promoting FLOSS going to fix that? It won't....but if that family has lower resources because of a gambler then mayybe CLUG can help them realize the potential cost benfits of FLOSS...which the gambler could then use to gamble online....
