Even if MS were not predatory, they opened up the code under the GPL, gave a billion to charity, set up a trust fund for open source development I'd still dislike windows. The OS sucks: (1) its architecture will never allow it to be as flexible as BSD/Unix/Linux, (2) its API's (all of them) are too complex (3) drives named after letters of the alphabet will never scale like the mount points of unix. (4) network API's seem like they are an afterthought patched on afterward. (5) it seems like to get anything done you have to blur user permissions with admin permissions.
