This is probably why it was hot. Playing a movie would require it to be 
accessed constantly. 

Accessing the occasional file would not be so noticeable. 

I thought there was something about turning off "update access time" as well 
so that it doesn't perform a write everytime it reads from the device. This 
helps increase the life of the device.
