First of all, you should update your system as RedHat 8.0 is about 5 versions out of date. Some of the problems you are having now may go away with a newer system. If you want to stick with RedHat, you can download Fedora Core 3 at http://fedora.redhat.com/ > I do, however have a few questions... > a) I tried to download Limewire, but I am told that I > am missing modules, how can I solve this? I'm going to need more information on what the error message is and when you are receiving it. LimeWire is generally easy to install. First off you need to make sure that you have Java installed. You can get the latest version at http://java.sun.com/ Once it is installed, you'll want to make sure that java is in your path. You can confirm this by typing "java" in a terminal window. You can then download LimeWire at http://www.limewire.com/ It looks as though you can now download it as an rpm or self installing binary. To install the rpm you would use a command similar to this: # rpm -ivh Lime*rpm to install the binary you would use a command such as: $ tar xzvf Lime*tgz $ chmod +x Lime*bin $ ./Lime*bin This should launch the installer. If you cannot get it to work, you can also check out GTK-Gnutella at http://gtk-gnutella.sourceforge.net/ > b) I seem to be having trouble with GRIP,I rip a cd, > but when I play the file, my audio player won't > recognize it. Once again I'm going to need more information here. Is it possible that you're trying to rip them as mp3's and then play them in one of RedHat's mp3 disabled audio players? Newer RedHat systems come with Sound Juicer, which you may want to check out: http://www.burtonini.com/blog/computers/sound-juicer > c)Where can I find a good mpeg player?preferable in > the rpm format. http://xinehq.de/ http://www.mplayerhq.hu/homepage/design7/news.html http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ Welcome to the group, Jesse _______________________________________________ clug-talk mailing list [email protected] http://clug.ca/mailman/listinfo/clug-talk_clug.ca Mailing List Guidelines (http://clug.ca/ml_guidelines.php) **Please remove these lines when replying
