I don't know about better as I've only tried a couple of GUI clients but 
right now I'm using Gnome BitTorrent and it seems to be alright. You 
can cap the number of leaches and the upload rate they use and monitor 
"events". Nothing too fancy but it works. Prior to this I was using an 
ncurses based client.
