Sometimes 'close enough' is appropriate -- there's a few different linux based all-in-one appliances out there which handles the vpn, ftp, file, print, www, mysql, antivirus, antispam, email, groupware and so forth.
You pay a bit of a premium in capital expenditure (though, not as much as Microsoft Small Business Server) but gain a whole pile of time back that can be better spent on pursing business goals, not monkeying with systems.
