Yesterday I discovered why I was having just as difficult a time with two cards as I was with only one:
My second card is an ATI Radeon and both the ATI binary drivers and DRI drivers (well, specifically, the GATOS drivers for TV support) do not yet work with 2.6.x kernels and/or X.org 6.8.x. I hope that if there are any other ATI users on this list that this warning may help. You will need a 2.4.x kernel and XFree 4.3.0 for the current drivers to work with full functionality. A little behind the times for me. :-( It was incidental that I picked up the ATI card, anyway. I'm just happy I have at least one NVIDIA card in the house. ;-) Thanks for the suggestions along the way.
