Clients can connect to the server, and browse the directories. But they cannot open files. When they try, explorer.exe generally dies, or returns a message that the file is unavailable.this might happen with files that do not have enough permissions
win office might crash trying to open "read-only" file
i had to make all 666 permissions in one directory because both 660 or 664 drove accessXP crazy even when user was from the right group
I'm pretty sure it's all related to name resolution, but I can ping with no problems.name resolutions you mean wins?
try browsing your server by \\192.168.x.x\directoryName
this helped me with a stupid variation of XP that didn't want to talk to wins server
at least, you will see is it this problem or not
