-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hey Group,
We held our first-ever (correct me if I am wrong Jeff) workshop this past weekend. We chose qmail because of the interest in this capable mail server and the ease of install and its modularity. We had 7 people there which was just the right number. We could have gone to 10 comfortably. Despite one of the fellows having problems with his computer we pressed on and followed the instructions laid out in Life with qmail (another reason for choosing qmail). I believe that everyone learned something Saturday and it was good experience. While we did successfully close with everyone running qmail, the participants each still had some configuration left to do on their own. I would like to thank everyone for attending. I would like to say a large thanks to Shawn Grover for providing the space, power, internet and the vittles. Thanks to everyone else who brought various articles that made it easier for everyone to get on the same page at the same time. With this success under our belts it would be nice to do another one. It was suggested that Apache might be a good topic. I also think that in all fairness doing a workshop on Postfix might be a good thing. Anyone with Postfix knowledge want to start making preparations? I believe that Shawn is already thinking about Apache. I think we pulled this off well for several reasons; the documentation we had was excellent. Shawn and I had enough experience between us with previous installs that we managed to muddle our way through. The level of experience of the participants was high enough that when we ran into snags we found solutions quickly. The number of people was good any more and it would most likely have resulted in chaos. We managed to all be on the same page most of the way throughout the course of setting qmail up. Things we could have done better; well the only things that became time consuming were typing in some of the scripts outlined in LWQ. We could have had these files already made and distributed among the participants at the start as we did with the various source tarballs we needed. Adhering more to time would be the only other thing. We ended up running from 10:30 to 7:30, a long day! But a fun one! - -- Jarrod Major GPG Fingerprint: FA4A 1EA3 A0EE A842 07BB 804C 0090 14F6 BE6E DE3D Registered Linux User: #224211 -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.2 (GNU/Linux) iQCVAwUBQWGhPwCQFPa+bt49AQLyNwP+Po/pz3r+f5vGoIB9FTcIcCs8CD+gEJzN L1DIAW7NDKejY65H3cfYZtiUuXNRqHStg/QvanfgviIeL3AQ9AzvRXXRijwXKHka ht3ZH8T3eLBCKkFoc8U2JQqmd7EnHnYXpKnlAF6NW33Pe/8oa8odRRwZWU1OwiO7 HdATGWdXHvs= =K8KW -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- _______________________________________________ clug-talk mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://clug.ca/mailman/listinfo/clug-talk_clug.ca Mailing List Guidelines (http://clug.ca/ml_guidelines.php) **Please remove these lines when replying
