If you want to do a really rushed install of Gentoo, do a stage 3, and use the 
Kernel from your boot media.  Then there's basically no compiling at all.

I'm not suggesting it's a good way, but if you're desperate to have it running 
NOW, than this would work.

It was a reply generally aimed at people saying Gentoo takes too long to 
install.  Add precompiled binaries, and you're pretty much set.  Things like 
VI or Vixie Cron take only a couple of minuites, even on a slow box, so this 
should cut the install time to maybe an hour or less.
