I verified it again and the following ports seem to be having troubles: Incoming (into my home IP) - 25 - 110 - 80
... (22,53 still seem to work) Outgoing - 25 (I can only get to the telus mail server) I use my mail server for testing purposes. So if I open port 587 will other MTAs looking at my MX record know that they should look at that port also? I can't believe they blocked 80 also ... this is absolutely critical for the SOAP protocol based partially on the premise that port 80 will remain open even if a firewall is in place. Not to mention the thousands of people having their home pictures on their home server. I think that what I will do is the following: - Luckily I have access to another ISP through a datacenter - Since I want to keep the test machines at home (so that I don't have to keep running back and forth) I will make a permanent VPN between my home and the ISP and forward the ports stuff exposed on the datacenter side through VPN to my home test machines. On the outgoing side ... at least sending mail using telus' SMTP seems to work. I have more choice language for that type of behavior, but this is a family mailing list :) If you have full control over your mail server, you may be able to enable it to listen on port 587. And then you can configure your email clients inside the Telus network to use that port for SMTP. Or you can send your outbound mail through the Telus mail server. I don't think they are rewriting your from address, so you can keep using your own mail server. When you say port 110 is blocked, do you mean inbound or outbound? Are you sure about that? It's the first time I've heard that. ...Niels Darcy Brodie, CJL wrote: > I have been told that if Telus holds the MX record for your email > server, that they will not block the port > > Darcy > > Tomas Florian wrote: > >> Over the last month I have been noticing slow but sure degradation of >> my internet service.
