I'll take the iMac for $175 with a wiped HD (it'll be running Gentoo). Only two questions: How is the display on it (does text "ghost")? And can I pick it up at the next meeting?
I've played with a number of Linux distibutions on PPC machines, I'm
just wondering how gentoo runs ie. does the compile go smoothly, does it
detect ppc hardware well, does it make it easy to install ppc specific
tools like yaboot?
I've only played with YDL and Mandrake on my iBook so far. It's running OS X right now though, only because I'm a little attached to a few apps. I also have a Quadra 610 (not stock) which I'm hoping to have running *nix by the end of April, May or June. That's depending on how fast I can process 4 years of number piles (they're not mine).
