No good reason. My comment about the ready availability of good-enough hardware was not meant to imply that I supported nor could conceivably defend that little gem. I suspect if you go back far enough in time, you'll probably find an email thread that says in effect "AWS only gives you one network, so that should be good enough (for now) for everybody". Except the "we'll fix that later" hasn't materialized. I suspect unless you or somebody else who cares enough to do something about it starts submitting patches, it'll stay that way.
