The Toolforge cluster is completely unrelated to Cloudelastic. There is no technical blocker to replacing the current Toolforge Elasticsearch cluster with an OpenSearch cluster. There is however a staffing and priority blocker in that this is not work that is being prioritized currently by the WMCS team. That team is currently down 2 members due to relatively recent WMF employee departures which makes it unlikely that they will be picking up wishlist tasks from the backlog at the moment.
