At minimum, both Boot and Leiningen just need to be told where you store your source files. By default this is "src", so a project with a "src" directory would work with both build tools, and likely any new ones that pop up in future.
However, this doesn't solve the problem of how to resolve dependencies. Without a build tool, where will you store the dependencies your project requires?
